DJ Properties Development plan for Washington Square Village is a huge project in full swing in South Boston. On the 5 acre site, the first eight buildings are currently being built. This will include over 650 units and nearly 100,000 square feet of retail shops. Washington Village is hoping to reinvent the South Boston's Andrew Square. 192,000 square feet of existing “obsolete and vacant” properties that also includes parking for about 600 cars will be transformed as the project unfolds. Prellwitz Chilinski Associates, PCA, are the designers for the project and are best known for transforming Northeastern University campus centers, and many other retail/restaurant designs throughout New England. WS Development says they will expand the plans to build and create more open spaces as part of the remaining 12.5 acres of the Seaport Square on the Waterfront. Enhancing the green of the planned Harbor Square Park will house new areas such as outdoor performance space, public art space, and a children's area. The company had already proposed a 500 seat Seaport Performing Arts Center on Summer Street. This will allow for a lot of different types of performances and events. The newest developments include reducing the amount of retail, more water and silver line transportation, more space for local businesses and entrepreneurs, and expand more green space on the Seaport Common. I don't know about you, but I am very excited about this one! The Smoke Shop will be opening its second location in the seaport at 343 Congress Street, formally Tavern Road. Andy Husbands first location is in Kendall Square. Their new location will look a lot like the original with lots of delicious BBQ, wings, and yummy side dishes. They are hoping to open this fall. Equifax, one of the three major credit bureaus, suffered a security breach from mid-May through July 2017 that compromised the personal identifying information of at least 143 million consumers from the US, UK and Canada in the form of names, addresses, social security numbers, birth dates, and driver’s license numbers. If you are worried that your information may have been compromised, the Federal Trade Commission has released steps that you can take:
- Visit equifaxsecurity2017.com, click the “Potential Impact” tab and follow the instructions.
- Order your free annual credit report from the three major credit bureaus. Review your reported information for accuracy and dispute any incorrect information.
- Monitor your bank and credit card statements
A developer has proposed to replace three commercial buildings at the intersections of West and East Broadway. The five-story condo development would contain 44 units and 48 parking spaces in an underground garage. There would be over 5,700 sq. ft. of amenity space. The project at 463 W Broadway would be the biggest development in the immediate area. The Milton-based developer is also part of the team who would like to replace the Gulf station at 87-93 West Broadway with 65 apartment units.
